Just BE! Newsletter-Issue 8-"Who Do You Say That I Am?"

Dear friend,
The Bible tells us of an event that occurred in the book of Matthew, chapter 16, verses 13 – 20. Jesus asked His disciples, “Whom do men say that I, the Son of man am?” John the Baptist, Elijah, Jeremiah, one of the prophets was the answer He got. “But whom say ye that I am?” (verse 16). In other words, who do you say that I am? Then Peter answered, “Thou art the Christ, the Son of the living God.”
Permit me to ask you the identity question, who are you? This is another way of saying whom do you say that I am? The question is so powerful that living without knowing the answer to it, will lead to a life of frustration. We need to get to a point in our walk with God that, like Jesus Christ, we can accurately define who we are. It is so important in our quest for BEing that if we do not know the answer, people will tell us who we are and we may accept such. Imagine if Jesus Christ accepted that He was just one of the prophets. Calvary would not have been a reality. This then tells us that if we do not know who we are, and we cannot precisely define our person, the fulfillment of our purpose, i.e. BEing, may not materialize. This is because the answer to the identity question is pregnant. The answer defines self, our purpose, our calling, our career, our choice of spouse, place of domiciliary location, our relationships, our style and everything we can think of.
But I want us to understand something of importance. “Flesh and blood hath not revealed it unto thee, but my Father which is in heaven” (Matthew 16:17). This proves to us that a proper understanding of self can only be got by revelation from God. How is this possible? Simple. Ask God for your purpose, fellowship with Him, study the word and have the right kind of company (i.e. Christ-like minds). Then, you will be given “…the keys of the kingdom of heaven: and whatever thou shalt bind on earth shall be bound in heaven; and whatever thou shalt loose on earth shall be loosed in heaven” (Matthew 16:19). In other words, victory in life, fulfillment, prosperity, peace, wealth and every other good thing, will naturally follow with the proper understanding, or knowing, or discovery of self in God.
Friends, live a fulfilled life. BE! (In Jesus name, amen!). But in closing, may I ask you again, who are you?
